The vibrant destination of Punta Cana lies on the
Eastern coast of the Dominican Republic, complete with
its own international Airport, and lined with over 40
miles of breathtaking beaches. With more than 40
beachfront hotels, a great choice of world-class golf
courses, endless water sports activities, and exquisite
dining options. Punta Cana is one of the most popular
and by far the fastest growing destination of the
Caribbean.
l
Punta Cana is in the Eastern Time Zone.
l
Weather in July ranges from 76-90 degrees.
l
You DO NEED a passport to travel to the Dominican
Republic (no exceptions, even for infants & children).
However you DO NOT need any immunizations to travel to
Mexico or the Dominican Republic.
l
It is not recommended to drink the water from the
tap. All water and ice served in the restaurants and
bars is purified. Bottled water is also readily
available (even use this for brushing your teeth).
Please be careful if and when venturing outside of the
resort.
l
Most resorts do not accept cash payments, so please
remember to take a credit card for excursions, etc.
Also, make sure to call your credit card company before
leaving to make sure they know you are going to be
traveling.
l
American dollars are recognized and accepted in the
Dominican Republic (tips, taxis, local gift items found
off property).
l
It is not recommended to use traveler checks - as
you are often charged a percentage to change your checks
to cash.
l
Most all-inclusive resorts do not have ATM machines
on property & if they do it will produce local currency,
not USD $.
l
There is a $10 per person tourist card fee payable
in cash upon arrival at the airport (USD). Hang onto
your travel card that they give you on the plane as
you'll need this as you go through customs. Also be sure
to have your passport or other identification ready.
l
Electrical outlets are the same at Dreams Resorts
as they are in the U.S. You may want to bring a surge
protector if you have multiple things to plug in.
l
Dreams Resorts tries their best to honor room
requests, adjoining rooms, etc. based on availablility.
Please e-mail Aida E. Cabrera or Eileen Ostos at
concierge@dreamspuntacana.com.do to make your requests
about one to two weeks before your trip. Also, if you
are unhappy with your room upon arrival, please tell the
front desk and request a different room.
l
If you will be traveling solo and would prefer to
share a room with someone else (to take advantage of
less-expensive rooms), please contact our Wedding
Coordinator, Charlotte, and we will try and work
something out.

Eileen Ostas, Chief Concierge E-Mail: concierge@dreamspuntacana.com.do
l
You DO need a passport to travel to the
Dominican Republic (no exceptions, even for
infants & children). However you DO NOT need any
immunizations to travel to Mexico or the
Dominican Republic.
l
Transportation from the airport to the
hotel is usually by a van or small bus. You will
need to bring your own car seat. However, this
is up to you...it is not mandatory (legally
required) in the DR.
l
Bring plenty of diapers and medical
creams (for diaper rashes, etc.) as toiletries
are quite expensive. Diapers may possibly be
available in one of the shops in the lower
lobby, in Guest Services, or in the small
shopping center down the road (read in reviews);
however, this is not certain and again may be
pricey.
l
Cribs for your rooms are available. However,
there is a limited number, so please e-mail
Eileen Ostos, Chief Concierge, a week or so
before you go to make arrangements.
l
Laundry service is available at an
extra cost. You may consider bringing a small
container of detergent, doing small loads in the
sink, and hanging clothes over the tub/shower
l
Explorer's Club for Kids provides
activities for children 3-12. Parents can spoil
themselves with some alone time while kids are
entertained with arts and crafts, exploration,
science, a pirate ship waterslide and rock
climbing wall, campout adventures and more fun
in the sun. (Reviews have stated that parents
are not allowed into the Explorer's Club - only
children 3-12; however, parents are given a
pager and have to stay on the resort grounds (no
excursions) while your children are in
attendance. From the reviews, we have read
nothing but wonderful things about the
Explorer's Club and the resort being
family-friendly.)
l
Explorer's Club Caretakers are very
good about reapplying sunscreen throughout the
course of the day (read in multiple reviews).
Please pack a bag for your child with sunscreen,
water shirt, hat, floaties/lifejacket, etc.
l
Babysitting is available for infants
under 3 years of age. Reviews and forums state
that it runs $10-$15 per hour. You can set this
up with guest services...the earlier the better.
l
There are no microwaves in your rooms
(to warm up formula, etc). If you are in need of
one, please contact Eileen Ostas and see what
she can do for you. Also, another option is to
warm the bottled water up in the coffee maker.
l
Reviews state that there is no dress
code for children at the restaurants. Along with
this, World Cafe seems to be the favorite pick
for children.
l
If your child has food allergies,
please contact Eileen Ostas and she will work
with you to make sure your child is safe
throughout your stay.
l
Items to consider packing for
infants/toddlers: car seat, stroller, sunscreen,
water shirt and hat, sunglasses, swimmers,
diapers for length of stay, medical creams, life
jacket/floaties (rather than rely on the resort
having your child's size), small container of
laundry detergent, sippy cup, fruit snacks, etc. |
| |
| What to Pack: |
l
passport *travel documents
l
medication
l
sunscreen
l
sunglasses
l
hat
l
wedding outfit
l
lots of $1 bills for tipping
l

tree or join a game of volleyball, go for a swim
or work on your tan, truly the most versatile of
excursions!
Be sure to indulge in the mouth-watering
barbecue lunch and refreshing cocktails that
just keep coming. An exhilarating speedboat ride
will take you to a natural swimming pool in the

are caught in these waters at various times of
the year. Professional staff with top quality
equipment will heighten your chance of
"catching
the big one!" |
